Maverick is 3 months old!

For those of you not on Facebook (*Ahem* Dad!) here are Maverick's 3 month photos.

Here is what Maverick is up to these days:

-I weigh about 13 pounds (by Mom's unscientific method of weighing herself while holding me, then weighing herself)
-I'm wearing size 3-6 month clothes
-I'm just now into size 2 diapers (12-18lbs)

-I still need to be swaddled to go to sleep at night. (Mom had to buy the biggest size Kiddopotamus swaddlers!)
-I've been "sleeping through the night" for a few weeks now. Only have to get up once for a feeding.
-I'm experimenting with my Jeep walker and door frame jumper, but I'm not quite tall enough. Can't wait, because I looooooove to stand on my legs!

-I'm rolling over from tummy to back pretty regularly, and now I'm working on back to tummy.
-I love to lay and swat at toys over my head.
-When I lay on my tummy I can lift my head to a 90 degree angle.

-When my binky falls out of my mouth, I can push it back in with my hands.
-I like to hold soft toys and bring them to my mouth.
-I love to make lots of noise and experiment with sounds like "ooh and ah".

-I can almost laugh!
-I love to go on walks around the neighborhood now that the weather is getting warmer.
-Bath time is almost fun. I like it until Mom washes my hair, then I scream!

-I'm sitting straight up without any help in my Bumboo seat.
-My hair is getting darker and fuller.
-Even though it's probably bad for me, I looooooooove to watch the tv. Even when Mom goes out of her way to turn me in a different direction!

Maverick's First Roll!

Yesterday morning during tummy time, Maverick hit a big milestone: he rolled over all by himself for the first time!

I was completely surprised (and so was he) because until now I've kinda been rolling him over myself just so he could kinda get a feel for it. He is only 2 1/2 months, so I was expecting him to not be able to roll for another month or so.

The really funny thing is that Robbie and I were just talking not even 10 minutes before it happened about how we need a video camera because Mav is at the stage where he's doing tons of new things. So it's the regular camera for now. Don't get me wrong, I love my regular camera. Its a Canon Rebel XTI and I have an additional lens for it which makes it fun to feed my weather/nature photography habit.

I happened to grab the camera because I noticed that Maverick was holding his head up higher than he ever had before. So I was snapping away when he rolled from his tummy to his back.

He did it again this morning, so it wasn't a fluke thing like I thought it might be. My little Mav is growin' up! :) He is also really starting to grab things like toys, but his favorite thing to grab is his shirt. Ha! It's so much fun to literally watch him do new stuff each and every day.

SUYL: Valentines Dates and Ideas

Show Us Your Life with Kelly's Korner

This week's topic is Valentines Dates and Ideas. Robbie and I have never made a big deal about Valentine's day. Although I'll never refuse chocolate. Ever! Ha ha!

I do remember a Valentine's Day a few years back. We spent the night going to the craft store to get supplies to make each other a card. At the time we weren't married, so we were hanging out at my parent's house (my house still at the time). We went into separate rooms so that each other's card would be a surprise. I know I still have the card Robbie made me around here somewhere...it was really cool!

We really like to make cards for each other. Nothing like having a custom made card made with construction paper and glue. :)

This isn't a Valentine's card, but it's one of my favorite cards I made Robbie for his birthday last year. I spent a super long time making the bike. All the little pieces like the spokes, handlebar, and pedals took a long time to cut and paste.

Some super exciting news: Maverick rolled over all by himself for the first time this morning! It was so funny because we had just been talking about how we really wanted to buy a video camera (instead of using our phones) to document all the cool things Maverick has been up to. Fortunately I just happened to have the regular camera ready and caught it all in photos. Pics to come!

Tonight Robbie and I are going to a hockey game. Woo hoo! Go Blues! We are totally and whole-heartedly baseball Cardinals fans...but hockey is fun too. I get bored watching it on tv, but going to games are exciting.

Sleepy McSleeperson

This is what Maverick has been up to all yesterday.

And all last night.
(the first time he's EVER slept 8 hours straight!)
Of course I woke up like 3 times. And each time I made sure he was still breathing.

And after he woke up from the night, he ate.
And went back to sleep.

What a life!

He hasn't missed much around here. Just a bunch of snow he can't play in yet. Ha! It's been wonderful for me because I've been off work the past 2 days because of snow. And this weekend it's a 3 day weekend due to President's day. I love working in a school district. :) I've been getting spoiled with all this time off. Lots of time to take pictures of my wonderful son and relax in my pjs.

Our doggie Belle has really warmed up to Maverick. She loves to lay next to him and lets him pull on her ears. She even gets up and walks over to him if he starts to cry. I think she has accepted him into the pack. :)

(This picture is from January 7th. Crazy how much Mav has changed in a month! That sleeper barely fits him now.)

Show Us Your Life Friday...err...Saturday

Show Us Your Life with Kelly's Korner

Okay, so this week's topic is "Beauty Tips and Favorite Products".

Altogether now, "YIKES!!!"

Wow. So I literally don't have much to contribute to this topic. I almost never, ever, ever wear make-up...let alone have some sort of beauty regimen to report. In fact--I was just celebrating Friday morning the fact that I actually got a shower before I went to work! I usually have to get a shower at night when the kiddo goes to bed. Friday morning Maverick woke up 45 minutes earlier than usual, so I just stayed awake and showered before I left at 6:30 am.

Even before Maverick came along, I didn't have what some might call a "girly getting ready routine". Make-up makes a rare appearance for special occasions. I would love to wear it more, and I think it to be quite lovely. I'm just not confident enough in my make-up techniques and knowledge. Plus, I choose to sleep in longer!

It's also kinda embarrassing to mention that I haven't gotten my haircut in a YEAR! Well, a year in March. Isn't that just awful???? Not even a trim. It's actually kinda funny that the last time I got my haircut by scissors was when I was newly pregnant (but didn't know yet). I specifically remember getting up early to work on seeding our lawn with grass seed, and then feeling like I needed to freshen myself up a bit with a new 'do.

During my pregnancy my hair was awwwwwwwwwesome. It was so full, thick, and shiny. That's probably why I didn't get it cut, because it was so gorgeous. Now it literally comes out in clumps. Like, huge clumps. They weren't kidding when they say your hair falls out after the baby is born. It's sort of traumatic seeing all that hair fall out in the amounts that it does. I've heard it's because of the change in hormones, plus the body is getting rid of all the hair you didn't shed during the pregnancy. Such a shame!

I suppose the only "beauty tip" I have is my chapstick obsession. I NEED chapstick. Even when it's 110% humidity outside. But now it's crucial for me to make sure I have at least one stick in all my pants pockets since it's winter. My favorite is the good 'ol ChapStick brand with the extra moisturizer and SPF 15. However the Burt's Bees is wonderful too.

Oh yeah, I just thought of another regimen that I have. I use the most amazing skin lotion ever, after every shower--but before I open the door and let all the moisture out of the room. It is from Restoration Hardware (the most amazing furniture store. EVER.) I use the original scent because it has a very fresh aroma, but they have lots of other scents. I don't know of any other lotion or cream that hydrates skin as well as this does, or as long as it does.

Last but not least, I definitely use sunscreen a lot more now. I basically grew up on the softball field and in the swimming pool. I have the freckles and moles on my arms, legs, and back to prove it now; and my face I think has some sun damage. I naturally get pretty dark, but I try to avoid it now by lathering up when I know I'm gonna be out in the sun for more than a few hours.

Hmmm...I guess I had something to contribute after all!

We always plan these things wrong.

"But Moooooooooom!"

So starting tonight we're expecting to get a few inches of snow in the area. No biggie whatsoever. Except that we ALWAYS seem to run out of groceries before some snow comes. So then we look like those crazy people who freak out when there is snow in the forecast--who feel they must scramble to the store and buy enough food to hibernate for the rest of winter in preparation for the snow. All for a couple of inches of snow on the ground. Silly sillyness!!!

I wish Robbie didn't take the camera to work, otherwise I'd take a picture of how bare our pantry and refrigerator are. We're talking not even a good variety of condiments. I don't want to completely blame it on being too lazy to go shopping, but by the time we both get home from work we're too exhausted from the full day of work and our 11 week old son.

It will be worth it to just go tomorrow while it's snowing. We own a Jeep. :)
